Word Chain

A starting word appears. Type any word that begins with its last letter β€” then keep going, chaining off your own answers. 4-letter minimum. 90 seconds.

How to Play

A starting English word is shown. Your task: type a word that begins with its LAST letter. The next word must in turn start with the last letter of yours, and so on. Each word must be at least 4 letters, in our word list, and not already used in this chain. The round lasts 90 seconds β€” build the longest chain you can. Word Chain trains vocabulary, lexical retrieval speed, and the executive control needed to filter candidates under time pressure.

Controls

Type the word into the input and press Enter (or tap Add). Auto-capitalize is on, so case doesn't matter. The required first letter is highlighted in orange.

Tips & Strategy

When you get a tough letter (like Q, X, V), aim for words that end in friendly letters (E, R, S, T) β€” that controls what you face next. Common 4-letter words have the highest hit rate; don't reach for vocabulary that might not be in the list. If stuck on Q, remember 'QUIT', 'QUIZ' (English allows q-without-u rarely).
