Task Switch

NUMBERodd β†’ LEFT, even β†’ RIGHT

LETTERvowel β†’ LEFT, consonant β†’ RIGHT

The rule changes randomly between trials β€” adapt fast! 30 trials or 60 seconds, whichever comes first.

How to Play

Each trial shows a single number or letter. The rule depends on what you see: if it is a number, press LEFT for odd and RIGHT for even; if it is a letter, press LEFT for vowel and RIGHT for consonant. The trial type switches roughly half the time, which forces your brain to drop the previous rule and adopt the new one β€” this 'switch cost' is exactly what cognitive flexibility training targets. You have 60 seconds or 30 trials, whichever comes first. The score rewards correct answers and penalizes mistakes.

Controls

Click or tap LEFT for odd/vowel, RIGHT for even/consonant. The current rule is shown above the symbol; pay attention because it can flip without warning.

Tips & Strategy

Read the rule banner first, the symbol second. Beginners try to memorize the symbol's category; that is the trap β€” the rule may have just changed. Build a habit of asking 'is this a number or a letter?' before deciding. Speed will come with practice; accuracy first. People who train task-switching daily often see clearer focus when juggling tasks at work.
