Two-Player Mahjong (二人麻将)

How to Play

Two players use the full tile set: three suits (万 条 筒, 1–9 ×4) plus honors (winds, dragons). Each player is dealt 13 tiles and draws/discards one per turn. You may chow (吃), pong (碰), kong (杠), or win (胡). A win is four sets plus a pair, or seven pairs — any valid hand wins. With only two players the pace is fast and reading your single opponent's discards is everything. The round ends on the first win; the winner is paid by the opponent, or scores a self-draw, scaled by fan (all-triplets, single suit, all-honors, self-draw, kongs).

Controls

On your turn, tap a tile to discard it, or use the Self-draw / Kong buttons. When your opponent discards, Chow / Pong / Kong / Pass buttons appear (winning is automatic). Single-player is you vs one AI; multiplayer is a two-seat room (an empty seat is filled with AI).

Tips & Strategy

Heads-up, watch every discard — your opponent's throws reveal what they're collecting. Keep your hand flexible and concealed; only meld when it clearly speeds your win. Defend by holding tiles your opponent has discarded (safe tiles).
